HCC recognizes Accelerate Texas Week, November 9-15

Nov 8, 2015

Accelerate Texas is an instructional model that allows learners to enroll in career pathway training programs and contextualized Adult Education classes simultaneously so they can more quickly earn industry recognized credentials and enter employment.

The HCC Adult Education Program was among the first projects originally funded in 2010 by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to develop and institutionalize this innovative practice at Texas community colleges.

Since then, hundreds of adult learners at HCC have completed their GED or improved their basic skills proficiency while they completed credentials in high-demand occupations.

The THECB has designated November 9-15, 2015 as Accelerate Texas Week to raise awareness about this proven method for increasing the number of Adult Education students who successfully complete high-demand career pathway credentials.
