Charlene Ward Johnson

Charlene Ward Johnson spends a lot of time volunteering for community service activities and events. She serves on several community boards such as Vice President of the Greater Houston Frontiers, President of her neighborhood’s Civic Club, and the President of University of Houston Black Alumni. As President of the Black Alumni, Charlene’s has increased the association’s brand awareness, community projects, and student engagement. She also serves as a Board Member of the University of Houston Alumni Foundation Board, where she chairs the Public Affairs Committee. Charlene is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Top Ladies of Distinction-Humble Intercontinental Chapter and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Volunteer Committee.

Charlene has 30 years of experience in the energy and customer service industries. She currently serves as claims manager in the Legal Department of Reliant Energy, Inc. In addition, she volunteers, fundraises and organizes several community events designed to enrich the lives of the people in the community. She is successful with philanthropic endeavors for charities such as the Gulf Coast Community Association, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, United Negro College Fund, Junior Achievement, the Texas Black Expo, addition to the boards she currently serves.

She is also very active in politics by block walking, volunteering with political campaigns, voter registrations etc. She is the proud mother of two children and is a member of Mt Sinai Baptist Church.
