At Central Music we help our students explore their creative potential as we prepare them for successful transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

We offer a full schedule of classes, from instrumental performance to advanced theory, from voice and musical theatre to electronic composition, MIDI sequencing and jazz improv. Students sharpen their skills in private vocal and instrumental lessons. The teaching artists of our faculty are working professionals, and you'll find performers from every major ensemble in the city in our classrooms.  Our New Music Series brings artists from the cutting edge of music to campus for concerts and master classes

And we have the tools you need to succeed: sophisticated digital music labs, classes covering the business of music, plenty of practice rooms, excellent facilities in historic buildings, and did we mention, our outstanding faculty?

Performance experience is critical. Central Music collaborates with our drama department on musicals, offering both voice and instrumental students a chance to shine. Our resident big band, Texas JazzCentral, plays at venues all over the city, and their play list often includes student arrangements and compositions.
