At Central Drama, small classes and an ambitious production schedule provide our students the hands-on experience, technique, and discipline to support their creative energy.  The curriculum runs the gamut from introductory classes to advanced courses focusing on specialized areas, such as musical theatre, technical theatre, and acting for TV.  Our faculty is made up of working artists, respected professionals on the Houston theatre scene.

Our busy production schedule combined with small classes, ensures that even beginning students will have wide ranging opportunities, onstage and behind the scenes. We produce musicals, contemporary dramas, and classics of world theatre. We're especially proud of our record of producing new works by local writers and engaging students in the collaborative process of bringing a new work to the stage.

And we've got the tools to do the job. Central Drama offers the well-equipped performance spaces that mark a real commitment to theatre training. Theatre One is an intimate black-box theatre seating up to 120.  The Heinen Theatre is an elegant traditional proscenium house that seats 300.  A registered National Landmark, the Heinen hosts large scale productions, and its a favorite space for Houston's performing arts community.
