Russian and Soviet Winners of World Press Photo 1956-1990

FotoFest's focus for its 2012 Biennial is Contemporary Russian Photography, showcasing the work of artists working from the late 1950s to today. Central Art will host an exhibition of World Press Photo Award winners from the Soviet Union between 1956-1991. This exhibition, organized by the Russian curators in conjunction with CANON Ru and Cultural Project "RUSS PRESS PHOTO", presents images by 42 Soviet photojournalists. See gallery hours at right.

HCC Central's Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Reynaldo Ochoa, welcomes guests from the University of St. Thomas Chamber Ensemble for an evening dedicated to works of Mozart. Guest artist So Yoon Lee is featured in Mozart's Piano Concerto #26 in D Major. Free, in the Heinen Theatre.

Central Art will open its 2012 Spring Juried Art Exhibit with a reception on Tuesday, April 17, from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Juror Zoya Tommy of PG Contemporary Gallery joined the faculty in choosing the winning works, and prizes totaling more than $1000 will awarded at 7:00PM. The Gallery is in the Fine Art Center, 3517 Austin at Holman. For information: 713-718-6600. Our own Central Dance Ensemble will debut new works by guest choreographers Jared Doster of Pilobolus Dance Theatre and FrenetiCore's Rebecca French. In the Heinen Theater.
